A powerful meditation on the "lost" landscape of the Elan Valley. This etching takes its name from a poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley, who resided in the valley shortly before it was flooded to create the massive Welsh reservoirs. The image captures the haunting beauty of Nantgwyllt, the "house beneath the reservoir." Through stark contrasts and deep, etched blacks, I have sort to portray the silence of the "Allan" (Elan)—a place where the tranquil solitude Shelley craved is now preserved eternally beneath the surface.
