A dramatic exploration of the Caban Coch Dam, this aquatint etching captures the sheer scale of the Elan Valley reservoir system. The work portrays the moment when engineering meets the elemental force of the Welsh climate, as the "swelling rivers" are gathered behind a massive wall of stone. I have sort to utilise the tonal richness of aquatint to create an atmospheric study in light and shadow. The piece serves as a companion to the Shelley-inspired "I Love Tranquil Solitude," shifting the focus from the poet’s submerged home to the monumental structures that now stand in its place.
