Inspired by the watercolour’s of Constable & William Tillyer, I have captured the elemental power of the Wirral coast. Burton Marshes is a large study in fluid motion, where a dramatic dark cyan sky breaks into a torrential downpour over the Dee Estuary. The painting resonates with the "Deep calls to deep" theme found in the Psalms, portraying a landscape where the heavens literally pour into the earth. I hope it is a striking reminder of the beauty found in the "solitary places" of the British coastline.
