For all we are is a mist that appears for a while and then disappears

Watercolour and mixed media on paper, 38x28cm, framed with anti-reflective UltraVue UV70 glass and an ivory black frame
This piece is a meditation on transience and the beauty of the temporary. Inspired by the wild, weather-beaten peaks of Mid Wales, the artwork captures the moment a heavy mist rolls over the ridges, blurring the line between earth and sky.
The title is a direct reference to the biblical passage James 4:14: "What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes."
Through the use of textured mixed media and fluid watercolor, I wanted to contrast the perceived permanence of the Welsh mountains with the fleeting, fragile nature of the mist - and by extension, our own existence. It is a contemplative work that invites the viewer to find peace in the present moment, acknowledging the beautiful, temporary nature of all things.
