Birthplace of Light is a small-scale study focused on the sharp contrast between a solid landmass and an emerging sky. By using the fluid transparency of watercolour alongside the precision of coloured pencil, the piece explores how light interacts with a fixed, dark silhouette. The piece explores the idea that our strength often comes from the "steep" places in our lives. The mountain provides a silhouette of help and stability, while the light represents a "silver peace" that is born out of the shadow. It is a study of the point where the weight of the earth meets the clarity of the sky.
